Subject: Goose neck casting for a/c 24 catboat boom |
| I broke the goose neck casing for a 24 ft A/c catboat and cannot seem to find a replacement. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I managed to get new gaff jaws from Doug Amidon at Amidon Woodcarving in Sandwich, Ma. He did a great job. The goose neck casting is the last piece I need to be back sailing again. Thanks, Peter |

Subject: gaff jaws |
| The gaff jaws broke on my A/C 24ft catboat. A friend suggested that a boat carpenter friend can make a new one. Can these be made out of wood? The one that broke is wood inside covered in fiberglass. It seems wet inside as the bottom of the fiberglass had many cracks. I'm just wondering if jaws just made out of wood will be strong enough. I would think if made properly it should be fine. Any suggestions?

Subject: cabin ? |
| I am looking to downgrade from my 22' Brewer to an 18' open, traditionally-built cat, and was wondering if was possible to add a small sleeping cabin. Do the Sanderlings and Americas have a deeper hull? Being a professional woodworker, the work is not the issue for me. Thanks,

Subject: Hoops catching |
| I have a hinged mast on my Marshall Sanderling. When raising the sail, the hoops catch on the top lip of an indented area where the sections join on the leading surface of the mast. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to avoid the hoops catching? I just bought the boat so I don't know if I'm missing a piece that would make the front of the hinged mast smooth or whether I should try masking tape? Suggestions most welcomed as this problem makes it difficult for me to sail by myself. |

| Does anyone have this number? Perhaps some older regatta records (they started building them in 1993)?

Subject: "Welcome Catboats" painting |
| Hi -- some of you will remember the very large painting (approx. 4' x 6') with the words "Welcome Catboats" or "Welcome Catboaters" that has greeted members at Annual Meetings in the past. I desperately need a photo of that painting. Any help would be appreciated. |

Subject: Topping lift mechanical advantage |
| I have figured away to get 1/4 advantage when adjusting the topping lift using two moveable pulleys and putting an extra cleat along side of the standard cleat on the Marshall 22.
I'll try to write it up for the Bulletin. Is it 1/4 or 4/1 advantage? |

Subject: raising/lowering centerboard |
| I have a Marshall 22. Has anyone figured out a good way to get mechanical advantage to raising/lowering the centerboard?
The centerboard trunk is too short to secure a pulley at the bow end going thru a moveable pulley attached to the centerboard line. Any thoughts? |
