1974 Cape Dory Handy Cat

1974 Cape Dory Handy Cat, hull #148. LOA 14′, 6’8″ beam. I purchased RED MOLLY from the original owner in 2005. For past 15 years of my 20-year ownership, MOLLY has been garage-stored when not on the water. RED MOLLY is set up for trailer sailing with a hinged mast, ready for easy launch and retrieval by one person in 30 minutes. Two sails: Original sail in very good condition for its age and 2009 Quantum Thurston sail with 3 reef points in very good condition. Two masts: Original solid Douglas Fir mast and a hinged Sitka Spruce hollow mast. Two gaffs: Original wooden gaff and a new (2024) carbon fiber gaff. Dyneema halyards and Harken blocks were replaced in 2024. All original wooden blocks and halyards are included. 2 anchors, each with a rode. 2022 Mercury 2.5 HP outboard with very low hours. Edson motor bracket. 2014 Load Rite trailer, road legal and titled. Centerboard pendant replaced 2024. Cockpit cover and sail/travel cover. RED MOLLY is also set up for sail camping with a second cockpit cover and sleeping platform. “Up-n- Out” swim ladder. Compass, fire extinguisher and misc. gear. Overall, both the boat and trailer are in very good condition. Moving and downsizing are forcing the sale. RED MOLLY can easily be solo sailed or with up to a crew of 3. I have sail camped RED MOLLY for 4-5 days at a time and also solo sailed her on Barnegat Bay, Chesapeake Bay, Cape Cod and the Thousand Islands. MOLLY is a very stable and fun boat to sail and turns heads anywhere I go. For more information or to make a visit, please contact: Paul Skalka at (609) 865-5726 or email skalkasailor@gmail.com.
