Although I keep a handheld gps on board, I always depend on my chart and compass when sailing or kayaking in unfamiliar waters. The sight of those numbered cans and nuns is always reassuring. Below is a link to the Portland (Maine) Press Herald’s article this morning on the status of the Coast Guard’s plans to remove navigation markers.
